GQ Pick of the month

Trendy  ladies bag
The second Earl Grey had his namesake tea; the Viscount Melbourne christened an entire Australian city after himself, but only one of our Prime Ministers so far has given their name to an item of apparel. That man is William Ewart Gladstone, lionized in luggage by 19th century leathersmith J G Beard. The Gladstone bag is traditionally made from leather stretched over a rigid frame, which opens using a central hinge. However, as with politicians on the campaign trail, occasionally this benefits from some subtle softening.
We like this new take on the Gladstone by Tusting, a Buckinghamshire tannery founded back in 1875. Originally developed as a prop for the movie of The Importance of Being Earnest, the time-honoured design has been given an update with lightweight Bullrush Kudu nubuck (a supremely soft suede from South African antelopes) and a fullgrain leather trim. A classic overnighter that will only get better with age.
