JEAN PAUL GAULTIER-AUTUMN/WINTER-2013-14

JEAN PAUL GAULTIER-AUTUMN/WINTER-2013-14

IN the words of Tom Jones: “You can leave your hat on” - but in the words of Jean Paul Gaultier: “You can take the rest off.” Well, sort of. The designer got us all excited when it came to his menswear offering this season, providing us with somewhat of a strip-tease to show it. But don’t worry, we didn’t get to go quite all the way and it was more a lesson in layering than anything else – and when it comes to winter, that’s a pretty good one to be well versed in.
It was, as has become de rigueur with Gaultier, a collection full of all of his best hits – inverted-triangle silhouettes to hint at the Eighties, men in skirts and pleated kilts, splashes of lace, all-in-ones that came as both suits and boilersuit variations, and a lively lighting backdrop for the performance to play out in front of.
