Facing some sort of technical malfunction, a Lahore-bound PIA's plane made emergency landing on Quetta Airport.
According to sources placed with the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), its flight PK206 was en route to Lahore from Kuwait when it faced some technical snag that led to its emergency landing on Quetta's airport.
The plane was carrying as many as 160 passengers who were struck with extreme panic as the plane made emergency landing, according sources. However, the PIA sources said it was due to a nominal technical glitch that the plane was safely flown into the city's airport.

Don't miss the "Blue Moon" Tonight

blue moon
The full moon on Friday is going to be special. It will be what is called a 'blue moon', that is, the second full moon in a month. A blue moon is relatively rare, occurring once in about 2.5 years. It happens when a year has 13 full moons instead of 12.

So, is a blue moon bluer than usual? No, the origin of the name is rather arbitrary. According to some accounts, the name first cropped up in a farmer's almanac. The almanac commonly gave each of the 12 full moons of the year a name. In years when there were 13 full moons, the editor called the extra full moon a blue moon. The next blue moon occurs in July 2015.

Sylvester Stallone son died of heart disease

sage stallone, amy brenneman and his father sylvester stallone
Sylvester Stallone's eldest son Sage died from heart failure, the Los Angeles county coroner's office said Thursday, adding that there were almost no drugs in the 36-year-old's body.

Sage Moonblood Stallone, who was also an actor and appeared with his father in two films, was found dead at his Hollywood home on July 13, leaving the "Rocky" star "devastated."

Some prescription pill bottles were taken from the apartment, fueling speculation about the mystery death of a young actor who had shown no signs of depression or ill health.

But the Los Angeles County Coroner's Department listed the cause of death as Atherosclerotic Coronary Artery Disease, adding that he suffered from no other conditions, and describing the death as natural.

"Toxicology was negative except for a sub-therapeutic level of Hydrocodone," a painkiller, added a short statement from the coroner's office, adding that a full report would be published within the next week.

Sylvester Stallone, 66, was told of his son's death while he was at the Comic-Con pop culture festival in San Diego. Reports suggested the young actor may have been dead for a few days before his body was found.

Stallone said there was "no greater pain" than losing a child, and condemned "speculation and questionable reporting" about his son, who was actively planning his own wedding in Las Vegas at the time of his death.

The young actor appeared in the 1990 film "Rocky V" as Rocky Balboa Jr, the son of his father's title character. The pair also appeared together in the 1996 movie "Daylight."

He is credited with 13 big-screen roles as an actor, while he was a producer on three films, including the 2006 short "Vic" which he also wrote and directed.

X-Factor star CHERYL COLE had big smack and fries, SINGER revealed car crash happened after late-night trip to food GIANT with Pal Will.i.am

cheryl cole
BATTERED Cheryl Cole revealed yesterday she got her bloody nose in a car smash going for a 3.30am McDONALD'S with Pal Will.i.am.
The singer, 29, flew back into Britain with her left arm in a sling.
Pals joked: "She had a Big Smack and Fries."
The Geordie singer told pals she was starving and on her way to get a late-night McDonald's with producer pal Will.i.am when the shunt happened.
She smiled through the pain and said: "I ended up having an Unhappy Meal instead".
Cheryl flew out of Los Angeles just hours after the crash with her left arm supported by a heavy-duty blue sling.
She had not needed hospital treatment after the crash, suggesting it was provided by a private doctor.
The Sun told yesterday how the Girls Aloud star was in the front passenger seat of Will.i.am's Cadillac supercar when it smacked into a parked motor at 3.30am.
Our exclusive pictures showed Cheryl with blood pouring from her nose as she and the Black Eyed Peas rapper, 37, waited for the emergency services. A McDonald's sign can clearly be seen in the background.
A source said: "Both Cheryl and Will.i.am were desperate for some food after working all day in the studio. They only intended to nip out for a quick bite — but ended up staying up for most of the night."
Cheryl was without her usual bodyguards as she walked through LA airport yesterday.
Flight attendants fussed over her on the journey home and gave her extra pillows to rest her arm and head. They also gave her painkillers and water because she was suffering from headaches.
When Cheryl landed in London, a wheelchair was waiting for her but it wasn't needed.
A friend of the former X Factor star said: "She is OK but still shaken about what happened.
"She has seen the pictures in The Sun and can't believe how much blood there was.
"Everyone is just thankful she and Will are all right.
"Cheryl is home to see friends and family after what was a nasty experience abroad.
"Her mum's been on the phone and wants to come and see her as soon as she can."
It is still unclear what caused the accident, which followed "a long day and night in the studio".
Neither Cheryl nor Will.i.am have been questioned by police and there is no suggestion anyone was to blame for the accident.
They both suffered a split nose and whiplash. Will was taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital, where he was later seen emerging wearing a neck brace and blood-stained jeans.
Cheryl — who was in Los Angeles rehearsing for her debut UK tour — was treated at the scene.
They were both quick to assure fans they were OK. Using his favourite word, he said online: "Car accidents are not dope. I'm glad I'm OK."
He added: "We're fine. Cheryl Cole (and I) were coming back from the studio but she and I are fine... just a little wiplash."
Cheryl — who is dating American dancer Tre Holloway — added: "Don't worry. Me and @iamwill are fine, promise."
Will's manager Polo Molina also assured fans that the accident was "minor".
He wrote online: "Just spoke to @iamwill, everything is OK. He and Cheryl Cole are both fine. It was a minor fender bender after a long day/night in the studio."
Cheryl is now resting at her house in North London and will soon by joined by her boyfriend Tre.
The LA-based dancer will be spending more time with her as they step up the seriousness of their relationship.
A pal said: "Things with Tre are really hotting up and Cheryl wants him to move in. They're giving it a trial run while Cheryl's in the UK preparing for her tour."
Will.i.am — a judge on BBC's The Voice — is expected to join the singer on the tour, which begins on October 3.

UEFA Championship, score board .. Chelsea, United spared as City get fiendish draw

MONACO: Fate largely smiled on Manchester United and holders Chelsea in Thursday's Champions League draw, but Manchester City found themselves drawn into a daunting group with Real Madrid, Ajax and Borussia Dortmund.
Chelsea, who beat Bayern Munich on penalties in last season's final to claim the trophy for the first time, were drawn in Group E alongside Italian champions Juventus, Shakhtar Donetsk, and Danish debutants Nordsjaelland.
Juventus will be appearing in the Champions League for the first time since the 2009-10 season and are likely to present the strongest challenge to Roberto di Matteo's side.
United found themselves in similarly benign surroundings in Group H, having been pitted against Portugal's SC Braga, Galatasaray of Turkey and Romanians CFR-Cluj in the draw in Monaco.
However, manager Sir Alex Ferguson will not need reminding that it was from a similarly straightforward group, containing Benfica, FC Basel and Cluj's domestic rivals Otelul Gelati, that the three-time champions failed to progress last season.
United, beaten 3-1 by Barcelona in the 2011 final, are appearing in the group phase for a record 18th time.
As in 2011, this season's final will also take place at London's Wembley Stadium, to mark the 150th anniversary of the English Football Association.
City's pool, Group D, unites the reigning champions of England, Spain, Germany and the Netherlands, and is sure to be dubbed the 'Group of Death'.
Roberto Mancini's side were drawn in a similarly taxing group last season and failed to reach the knockout phase, with Bayern Munich and Napoli finishing above them on their first appearance in the Champions League.
Along with Spain, England are one of only two countries with four teams in the group phase and their fourth representatives, Arsenal, will face Schalke, Olympiacos and debutants Montpellier, the French champions, in Group B.
There was one other newcomer in the draw in the shape of Malaga, who qualified by overcoming Panathinaikos in the play-off round earlier this week.
The Spanish side were drawn in Group C with Zenit Saint Petersburg, Anderlecht and seven-time champions AC Milan, who will have been relieved to avoid a more difficult group after a summer in which they lost a glut of leading players.
Barcelona, finalists in two of the last four seasons, landed in Group G, where they will have fellow former champions Benfica and Celtic for company, as well as Spartak Moscow.
Big-spending Paris Saint-Germain, meanwhile, will fancy their chances of qualifying from a group that also includes FC Porto, Dynamo Kiev and Dinamo Zagreb.
Last season's beaten finalists Bayern Munich were placed in Group F alongside Valencia, they team they beat on penalties in the 2001 final, as well as Lille of France and Belarusian outfit BATE Borisov.
The opening batch of group ties are scheduled for September 18/19.

Shoaib Suddle to probe Arsalan-Riaz controversy, rules SC

arsalan iftikhar cj,s son
ISLAMABAD: Granting the appeal filed by Arsalan Iftikhar, son of Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, the Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that the controversy relating to allegations of a Rs342 million business deal between Arsalan and property tycoon Malik Riaz be probed by a commission constituting Shoaib Suddle, DawnNews reported.

The ruling was issued by a two-judge bench comprising Justice Jawwad S. Khawaja and Justice Khilji Arif Hussain which had been hearing Arsalan's petition in which he had challenged the court's June 14 order which had asked the attorney general to handle the controversy.

The commission, constituting the former police force official and current federal tax ombudsman Shoaib Suddle, has been directed to submit its report before the bench in a period of 30 days.
The bench enabled the commission to collect all evidence pertaining to the controversy and also sanctioned that trips abroad may be undertaken for collecting proof.

Suddle would also have the authority enjoyed by a judicial officer and would also investigate the protocol given to Malik Riaz by two police officers when the real estate tycoon appeared before the Supreme Court on July 31.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Supreme Court had reserved its judgment on the petition moved by Arsalan.
Arsalan had challenged the June 14 order which, he claimed, contained inherent and apparent errors.
Moreover, the bench issued a notice to Attorney General Irfan Qadir over acting in excess of the court's directives.

The bench ruled that the attorney general had overstepped his authorities in approaching the NAB for the investigation.

The bench said it had directed the attorney general to "set the machinery of the state in motion," however, in approaching the NAB, he exceeded the instructions and in following his directives, the NAB also "lost its credibility".

The bench moreover declared NAB's letters to Supreme Court Registrar illegal.
In light of the June 14 order, the attorney general had ordered the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) headed by Director General of NAB's Financial Crimes Investigation Wing Kauser Iqbal Malik to look into the matter.

Also on Tuesday, Advocate Sardar Muhammad Ishaq, representing Arsalan, requested the court to order the transfer of the case from NAB to any other independent agency or commission which should carry out the inquiry without any influence from Malik Riaz and the federal government. "This will ensure transparency and fairness," he said, adding that his client had no faith in the NAB inquiry.

When Advocate Ishaq requested the court to appoint a judge for the inquiry, Justice Hussain said if the counsel did not trust anyone should the court call someone from abroad.
Advocate Zahid Bokhari, representing Malik Riaz, opposed the idea of constituting a commission to look into the allegations.

But Justice Khawaja recalled that during the initial hearings the counsel himself had supported the idea of a commission similar to the one appointed to investigate the infamous memo scandal. He stressed the need for a transparent investigation into the matter.

Advocate Ishaq alleged that NAB had become controversial under the present chairman who was acting on the orders of people who had committed corruption and were involved in corrupt practices. He accused Malik Riaz of enjoying a lot of clout in Islamabad and said the NAB chairman was biased and prejudiced.

Viewers are snubbing Rihanna,s shows

RIHANNA'S telly career has got off to a rocky start after ratings for her much-hyped new fashion series fell to just 79,000.

Thousands have turned off Styled To Rock — executively produced by the singer and featuring wannabe designers competing to create a festival outfit for her.

Fronted by Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, it has bagged big name guests including Kanye West, Cheryl Cole and Katy Perry.

rihanna
But three episodes in and it's not rocking the ratings.

The Sky Living show started with an overnight viewing figure of just 95,000 — down on the channel's usual audience of 153,000.

It fell to 79,000 for the second episode before perking up a bit to 110,000 for this week's instalment on Tuesday.

The slump came despite Bajan beauty Rihanna heavily plugging the show to her 25million Twitter followers, telling them: "It's finally here! My 1st TV series I've executively produced."

Sky insisted the ratings were far higher when repeats and catch-up figures were included, with 440,000 seeing the first episode. Controller Stuart Murphy said: "It was trending and Rihanna is the biggest star in the world. Find me a channel controller who would turn down Rihanna in her own series."

An insider added: "It's pulled in respectable ratings.

"It airs on a tough night against big shows such as Jack Whitehall's comedy Bad Education and it's really difficult to launch a new show against strong competition."

Paralympic Games 2012 burst into life, opening ceremony with Queen and actress Nicola Miles-Wildin

paralympic 2012
LONDON 2012's awe-inspiring Paralympic Games burst into life last night — with a Big Bang.
A glowing planet descended on to a giant umbrella in the Olympic Stadium as Britain's greatest boffin Professor Stephen Hawking urged people everywhere to be inspired by the courage of disabled athletes.

And a huge roar filled the packed arena as the sphere detonated a massive explosion of fireworks.
The spectacular ceremony — featuring 4,200 athletes and opened by the Queen — was watched by a BILLION viewers on TV.

The Queen, Wills and Kate, PM David Cameron and 2012 boss Lord Coe all watched the spectacular — named Enlightenment — at the Olympic Stadium in East London.
Hawking, in a rare public appearance, narrated the opening scene in his familiar synthesised voice from a moon-like stage.

He said: "However difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at."
He was joined by 600 dancing volunteers around a giant umbrella igniting a "big bang" as 18,000 LED lights in their own umbrellas shone brightly.

Britain's Got Talent finalists Flawless danced to the Rihanna hit Umbrella accompanied by performers "flying" on brollies above the stadium.

The opening scenes introduced the central character called Miranda played by actress Nicola Miles-Wildin who works for a power-wheelchair dance troupe.
The cast created the image of a giant blinking eye using umbrellas to form the iris and sway-pole performers 4.5 metres high as the eyelashes.

The Queen — there without Prince Philip who is still recovering from a bladder infection — was greeted by a royal fanfare as she took her seat with International Paralympic Committee president Sir Philip Craven.

A team of nine Royal Navy, Army and Air Force personnel raised the Union Jack as a 430-strong choir sang the national anthem with 12 performers signing the words for deaf viewers.
Lights under the hundreds of umbrellas lit up to create a dazzling Union Jack.
The 4,200 athletes from 164 nations took their place in the arena, with our 300-strong Paralympics GB squad following tradition and entering last.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Blade Runner Oscar Pistorius carried South Africa's flag.
The Games were then officially declared open by the Queen. Britain's greatest Paralympian Tanni Grey-Thompson was among six athletes who FLEW into the sky above the stadium in dazzling gold wheelchairs. She recited the "Brave New World" speech from Shakespeare's The Tempest.
Central character Miranda landed in the middle of a maze of books to learn about Isaac Newton's discovery of gravity.

She found an apple in the maze and bit into it — with the help of the 62,000 spectators who were each given an apple and bit into it at the same time to make one enormous crunch.
A huge golden apple dropped from the sky, accompanied by jugglers, skaters, tandem riders and wheelbarrows of helium-filled apples. A stream of red tents carried by 128 volunteers collided like atoms on the floor, then Lord of the Rings star Sir Ian McKellen spoke the words of Prospero from The Tempest.
He said: "The greatest adventure is what lies ahead."
In a celebration of human rights protesters, 275 performers and members of a disabled theatre company danced to punk rocker Ian Dury's Spasticus Autisticus.
The ceremony, which featured a total of 3,000 volunteer performers, was created by artistic directors Jenny Sealey and Bradley Hemmings and overseen by a team including Billy Elliot film director Stephen Daldry.

ACTRESS Nicola Miles-Wildin told of her pride after starring in the opening ceremony.
The 34-year-old took the part of Miranda from Shakespeare's The Tempest and emerged from a blinking eye in the arena.
She said: "I was so excited to tell the story of the Paralympic opening ceremony. It celebrated the amazing athletes and the arts and showed how talented and diverse this country is. I was just proud to be a part of it."

SOCCER star Mario Balotelli scores a hat-trick — as a friend helps him squeeze three glamorous girls into his car.

The Manchester City striker — in a hoodie and puffing a cigarette — met the girls in a restaurant, then whisked them to a bar and on to a club in his white Bentley GT.

Balotelli, 22, had even more women on his arm by the time he left Manchester's Sakura nightspot at 2.20am with pals.

He had to order a chauffeur-driven van to help transport them back towards his pad in Alderley Edge.

Balotelli split from girlfriend Raffaella Fico, 24 — who says she is having his baby — in April.

A Twitter account claiming to be Balotelli's gained 8,500 followers in three hours yesterday but was later exposed as fake.

5 Natural tips to prevent hair loss

5 natural tips to prevent hair loss
It's better to use natural products to stop hairfall than to go in for expensive parlour treatments, that may not help the problem.

Try the following easy tips at home and see how effective they are in reducing hair loss!

1. Hot oil treatments: Take any natural oil - olive, coconut, canola - and heat it up so that it is warm, but not too hot. Massage it gently into your scalp. Put on a shower cap and leave it on for an hour, then shampoo your hair.

2. Natural juices: You can rub your scalp with either garlic juice, onion juice or ginger juice. Leave it on overnight and wash it thoroughly in the morning.

3. Get a head massage: Massaging your scalp for a few minutes daily will help stimulate circulation. Good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Circulation may be improved through massage by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base.

4. Antioxidants: Apply warm green tea (two bags brewed in one cup of water) on your scalp and leave this mixture on for an hour and then rinse. Green tea contains antioxidants which prevent hair loss and boost hair growth.

5. Practice meditation: Believe it or not, most of the times, the root cause for hair loss is stress and tension. Meditation can help in reducing that and restore hormonal balance.

Mums spend more time on FB after delivery

moms spend more time on fb after delivery
Many first-time parents, particularly mothers, actually increase the amount of time they spend on Facebook after the birth of their child, a study has suggested.

Results of the study demonstrated that 44 per cent of mothers admitted increasing their Facebook use after giving birth, compared to 27 per cent who said it decreased and 29 per cent who claimed that it stayed the same. On the other hand, for fathers, 31 per cent claimed that their Facebook use increased, while 19 percent said it reduced and 51 per cent said it stayed the same.

The study is the first one to investigate new parents' use of Facebook during this stressful life event.
According to the researchers, the results offer some initial clues as to how Facebook use may affect new parents' adjustment to parenthood.

Sarah Schoppe-Sullivan, co-author of the study and associate professor of human development and family science at Ohio State University claimed that the findings suggest that despite all the new demands faced by new parents, spending time on Facebook was worthwhile to them.
"Given all the stress that new parents are under and everything they have to manage, it wouldn't have been surprising if we had found a decrease in Facebook usage - but that's not what we found," Sullivan said.

Particularly for mothers, who may spend more time at home taking care of the baby, Facebook may be a way to connect with friends and family and seek support during a stressful event of life.
"These mothers may be taking time off from work, and may be far from family, so this network they created for themselves on Facebook can be very valuable in helping them cope," said Mitchell Bartholomew, lead author of the study and a graduate student in human development and family science at Ohio State.

The study included 154 mothers and 150 fathers, most of whom were white and highly educated. The information from this study came from questions asked nine months after the birth of their child.
New mothers reported visiting their Facebook accounts more frequently than fathers, and also managing their data more often.

The majority of mothers (58 per cent) visited their accounts at least once a day, in comparison to 44 percent of fathers.Nearly all women (98 per cent) claimed that they had uploaded photos of their child on Facebook, while 83 per cent of fathers admitted doing the same. Nearly two-thirds of mothers (63 per cent) revealed that they uploaded more photos after the birth of their child than they had before, as did 73 per cent of fathers.

And 93 per cent of mothers and 71 per cent of fathers said it was "likely" or "very likely" that the pictures would be acknowledged by their Facebook friends, either with a comment or a "like."
That kind of feedback was important for new parents as mothers and fathers who said it was "likely" that their Facebook friends would comment on photos also reported higher levels of happiness in their parenting role.

"Parents may feel like they're getting positive feedback about their role as parents," Sullivan said.
"These are all first-time parents, and they particularly need that," she said.
The researchers noted that despite the fact that most of the "friends" that people have on Facebook aren't usually close friends, still, new parents might enjoy support and feedback even from acquaintances.

"There may be something about getting feedback from someone who doesn't know you very well that may be particularly encouraging," Bartholomew said.
"They don't know you very well, they don't owe you the positive reinforcement that you may expect from close friends and family, but still they took the time to comment on your photo or post," she said.
"These mothers may be taking time off from work, and may be far from family, so this network they created for themselves on Facebook can be very valuable in helping them cope," said Bartholomew.
But, the study found that having close ties on Facebook are important, particularly for mothers.
When mothers had greater proportion of their Facebook friends as family members or relatives, they reported greater satisfaction with their parenting role.

Facebook use was not always linked with better adjustment. Mothers who were more frequent visitors to their Facebook accounts and who managed their accounts more frequently reported higher levels of stress due to parenting.

However Sullivan admitted that they couldn't tell from this data whether more Facebook use caused stress for mothers, or if mothers with higher levels of stress were more likely to use Facebook frequently.

"I think the most likely interpretation is that mothers who experience higher levels of stress are looking for social support on Facebook so they visit more often," she said.
"I know that I see a lot of Facebook posts from new mothers talking about how their child wouldn't sleep, or how their second child was harder than their first. Stressed-out mothers may be using Facebook to vent and to find help," said Sullivan.
But she claimed that it might be possible that some new mothers see Facebook as just another chore they have to do to communicate with friends and family.

Guys will always love their moms

guys will always love their moms
Women should not compete with their mom-in-laws for their husbands' affection...

There are numerous stories on how the daughter-in-law and mom-in-law relationship is very fragile and how the daughter-in-law fights innumerable battles to win her over but at the end of the day she is somewhere unhappy that it takes an entire lifetime for a the wife to win her husband's mother.

Sofia, a teacher, too had to try umpteen ways to please her mother-in-law. Says she, "There used to be time when my husband would spend hours talking to her mother and not have enough time for me. He would agree to take me out only when his mother agreed or asked him to do so. People would consider such men to be mama's boys but it is a fact of life that guys specially only-sons deeply love their moms, sometimes at the cost of their wife and family and we have to accept that."

Just as the daughter loves her parents, the wife needs to understand that the husband will always want to keep the two women in her life happy and so it may happen that one of them is sometimes feeling ignored or in a situation where she is competing for the guy's attention. But, this is just one part of the situation. There have been extremely good mother-in-laws as well who will themselves tell their sons to live separately or respect the wife, and not put pressures on her. Rihanna , an architect says, "My mother-in-law is so good that she didn't even ask me to adopt her family customs and traditions, she will be a companion in the kitchen and outside the kitchen and has never felt that I have taken away her son from her."

So when a guy expresses his love for her mother or wants to look after her in her old age and be a great support for her, the wife will have to understand in this age of nuclear families, that guys will always love their moms and it is as natural and good thing as for any other relationship.

Monsoon is the season of romance for some and marriage for others. For those women who are contemplating to tie the knot this season should keep the following beauty tips in mind before walking down the aisle dressed as a bride.

Beauty and makeup expert Shikha Taneja lists five simple makeup tips for the brides to abide by this season.

1. Sultry weather can lead your make-up to melt halfway down your face; therefore to ensure that the make-up lasts long it's best to mattify an oil free primer and use water-based foundation instead of cream ones.

2. Set the foundation with oil absorbing powder. This will make it last long, Would-be brides can keep blotting papers handy to avoid the face look too caked with make-up

3. Avoid any cream-based make up, be it blush or eye shadow. Instead, for an enhanced and less powdery look, use moisturising and make up setting spray on your face. This will add a glow to your face

4. Stay away from too much shimmer or glitter as this would make your face look excessively shiny and oily. Matte bronzers will be more flattering and intelligent pick in monsoon

5. Always use water proof eyeliner and mascara. Set these with black eye shadow on top of the liner as they run the risk of sliding off in humid weather.

Fashion : Angelina Jolie on the ramp

angelina jolie

Angelina Jolie's daring, thigh-high slit stunt is not unachievable for average Asian girls. All it takes is a decent height and a pair of toned legs, say designers and fitness experts.

The average height of Asian women is five feet to 5' 5". But that's no deterrent to experimenting with stylish cuts, says Anjalee of designer duo Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor.

"High slits look good on long and toned legs. Tall ladies can easily carry such outfits, but even shorter ones can try it by wearing high heels," Anjalee said.

Inspired by the Hollywood red carpet look, several Bollywood beauties have flaunted their perfect pins at many events. But for commoners, overexposure of skin may be a big deal, feels designer Pam Mehta.

"Thigh-high cuts are not usually seen in India because certain women feel overexposed by wearing a cut like that. It looks decent if the woman is tall and has well-toned legs," she said.
"Average Indian women usually have a pear-shaped body. So they tend to gain weight around regions such as abdomen, hips and thighs. To tone that portion, one has to do exercises like leg extension, squats and specific floor exercises targeting that body part," Delhi-based personal trainer Aamit says.
"Running and jogging lead to overall reduction in body flab, but not in specific areas. So one can't achieve toned thighs and calves in a matter of a few days; the flab around that portion is stiff and won't go away that easily," he added.

Women's toned-leg obsession has been around longer than men's six-pack trend, according to exercise co-ordinator Milin Mathew, who says, "Good old classics like squats and lunges (with different variations and adaptations) are still the front-runner for a good, well-toned lower body."
But the achievability of the desired tone-up is "directly proportionate to the person's frequency of exercise, shape of the lower body at the point of starting the exercise, and the commitment," he added.

Running helps too. "It compliments all exercises, since running involves and utilises the quadriceps (thighs), hamstrings (back of the thigh), outer and inner thighs, gluteus muscles (butt) and calf muscles. So a smart mix of strength/endurance exercises for the muscles with well-chalked out cardio workout like running, jogging, or cycling is suggested," Mathew said.
What's also not to miss is a "smart food habit" and "sound sleep", but once your legs are toned enough, don't forget to moisturise them well before you step out with that slit!

Caramel custard recipe

caramel custard recipe

It's simple and yum. Cook the caramel custard at home and sample dollops of tasty stuff without looking out for anything expensive in the market.

If your loved one has been sampling all the packaged custard and pudding, for that matter the jelly-pudding from the bakery and the confectionery shop, and been asking for pudding everyday, cooking caramel custard at home will take away the burden from the buying rigors every day. Here is how:

Ingredients:

Eggs: 2
Milk: 500 ml
Sugar: 2 tablespoons for caramelizing
Ground sugar: 2 tsps
Corn flour/custar powder (vanilla flavour): optional

Method:

Take 2 table spoons of sugar in a saucepan and caramelize it on a low flame by constantly stirring. Once the sugar turns light brown in color, switch off the flame and immediately take the saucepan off the stove.

In a separate bowl, beat two eggs with yolk and add milk and mix the contents well. Add 2 teaspoons of sugar or add the amount which suits your taste buds. But do not make it too sweet as it will take away the charm.

You can add some corn flour or vanilla falvoured custard powder to the milk to add thickness if you do not want to use egg. You can do it by taking 1 tsp of corn flour and mix it well by adding two tsp of milk. Add this corn flour and milk content to the milk bowl. If you are using eggs, corn flour becomes optional.

Now, pour the entire caramel into another container. Add the milk with eggs.or milk with corn flour. If you are pressure cooking it, carefully select the water level at the bottom of the pressure cooker. Do not put more than 200-250 ml of water and allow the custard to cook in the steam. Do not put the weight on the pressure cooker. Cook it for 15-20 minutes.

After switching off the flame, allow the custard to settle for another 10 minutes. The best way to see if it has been cooked is to insert a knife and if it comes out clean, your custard is cooked perfect.

Keep it in the refrigerator and serve it chilled.

Car lovers : THREE new cars were unveiled this week

mclaren 12c spider
THREE new cars were unveiled this week with one factor in common – they'll be good for British jobs.
McLaren and Bentley revealed sensational convertibles at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, where mega-rich car fans gather every year.
And if a new Toyota Auris hatchback seems a little tame in comparison, it's the affordable model that ordinary motorists will be buying.
The McLaren, Bentley and Toyota will all be built in the UK and will help safeguard thousands of jobs.
The stunning McLaren 12C Spider is available to order now and anyone with a spare £195,500 cash – perfect for the latest Lottery millionaires – can be behind the wheel early in 2013 when the first deliveries are made.
Based on the same platform as the 12C Coupe, the Spider convert-ible has that extra dose of sparkle, but just as much supercar performance.
It hits 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds, 0-100mph takes just six seconds and the top speed is 204mph if your hair can stand it.
The Bentley Mulsanne Convertible is described as a concept, but this is Bentley's new flagship that will be on sale late 2013, early 2014.
The real car, a strikingly glamorous four-seat convertible, was shown to a handful of billionaire and millionaire customers at the weekend to gauge reactions.
Not surprisingly they loved it, so expect to see the Bentley in showrooms within 18 months, with an exclusive price tag expected to be in excess of £255,000.
The Mulsanne Convertible will be the replacement for the Bentley Azure soft top that sold 2,100 units between 1995 and 2010.
The Toyota Auris's price tag is a far more attractive one, starting at around £13,000, and should sell to thousands rather than a few hundred wealthy buyers.
The Auris fits into the sensible category, but Toyota have managed to spice things up with a sportier look – the car sits 55mm lower and it is 30mm longer, so there is more space.
Production at Toyota's Burnaston plant starts late this year and the new car will go on sale in early 2013, with a hybrid and estate versions joining the line-up.

Will.i.am song blasts to Mars and back, via Curiosity

will.i.am

LOS ANGELES - NASA's Curiosity rover is making global headlines as it travels uncharted territory on Mars, and it will venture into new realms back on Earth this week when it premieres a new will.i.am song.
The Black Eyed Peas rapper's tune "Reach For The Stars" will be broadcast live from the surface of Mars, via Curiosity, at 1 p.m. PST (4 p.m. EDT/2000 GMT) on Tuesday to a news conference at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, the organization said in a statement on Monday.
The debut of the song, described as an ode to the singer's "passion for science, technology and space exploration," will be linked to an educational event in which members of the Curiosity team will explain the song's transmission across space to students, as well as the rover's overall mission.
The project is a collaboration between NASA and the rapper's i.am.angel Foundation, which aims to provide digital resources in classrooms from kindergarten to grade 12.
The foundation will announce a new science, technology, arts, engineering and mathematics initiative featuring the Mars Curiosity Rover and other NASA assets.

Mario , Manchester City star met the girls in restaurant, then whisked them to bar & club

Science : why sex is important in our life.

why sex is important in our life
Have you ever heard that song called Sexual Healing? It's not just a metaphor. Sex can actually heal. It can heal your body and mind and prevent lots of diseases.
Some say it's the first medicine ever known to man and it should be administered daily. Sounds too good to be true? Let's discover the four reasons for which a man should have sex each day.
Great form of exercise :
Making love is a form of physical activity. During intercourse, the physiological changes in your body are consistent with a workout. You must have noticed that the respiratory rate rises, which means you get tired. Hence, you burn calories. If you have sex three times a week for 15 minutes (but we know you can do better than that) you'll burn about 7.500 calories in a year. That's the equivalent of jogging 75 miles! Heavy breathing raises the amount of oxygen in your cells, and the testosterone produced during sex keeps your bones and muscles strong.
Pain relief :
The "Honey, not today, I have a headache" cannot be an excuse any more. During sex, both male and female bodies produce endorphins, hormones that act as weak painkillers. A study conducted by Gina Ogden showed that during sexual stimulation and especially during orgasm, we don't feel pain. If she finds another excuse, remind her that sex is good for her entire reproductive system, because it trains the PC muscle, which keeps the reproductive organs in shape. In women, sex can also increase fertility, postpone the menopause and relieve PMS symptoms.
Prostate protection :
Most of the fluid you ejaculate is secreted by the prostate gland. If you stop ejaculating, the fluid stays in the gland, which tends to swell, causing lots of problems. Regular ejaculation will wash those fluids out and ensure the well being of your prostate until old age. Problems may also occur when you suddenly change the frequency of ejaculations.
Prevents erectile dysfunctions :
Fifty per cent of men older than 40 suffer from erectile dysfunctions and all young men fear the moment when they won't be able to get it up any more. The best medicine against impotence is...sex. An erection keeps the blood flowing through your penile arteries, so the tissue stays healthy. Plus, doctors compare an erection to an athletic reflex: the more you train the more capable you are to perform.
Stress relief :
It's a scientific fact: sex can be a very effective way of reducing stress levels. During sex your body produces dopamine, a substance that fights stress hormones, endorphins, aka "happiness hormones" and oxytocin, a desire-enhancing hormone secreted by the pituitary gland.

Mystery of Yasser Arafat,s death, France opens inquiry into claims of Arafat poisoning

yasser arafat with wife soha ( a file photo )
PARIS: French prosecutors have opened a murder inquiry into Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's 2004 death near Paris following claims he may have died of polonium poisoning, sources told AFP Tuesday.
The probe comes after Arafat's family launched legal action in France last month following reports the veteran Palestinian leader may have died from radioactive polonium.
Arafat's widow Suha and his daughter Zawra lodged a murder complaint on July 31 in the Paris suburb of Nanterre. Arafat died at age 75 at a military hospital near Paris in 2004.
"A judicial murder enquiry has been opened, as expected following the complaint from Mrs. Arafat," a source close to the matter told AFP. Another source confirmed the probe had been opened.
The Palestinian Authority welcomed the move, with senior Palestinian official Saeb Erakat expressing hope that "we will reach the full truth on Arafat's death and who stands behind it."
"We hope the French investigation will satisfy our desire for truth, and that there will be a serious investigation to reveal the whole truth, in addition to an international investigation to identify all the parties involved in Arafat's martyrdom," he told AFP in Ramallah.
Allegations that the Nobel Peace laureate was poisoned were resurrected last month after Al-Jazeera news channel broadcast an investigation in which experts said they found high levels of polonium on his personal effects.
Polonium is a highly toxic substance which is rarely found outside military and scientific circles, and was used to kill former Russian spy turned Kremlin critic Alexander Litvinenko, who died in 2006 shortly after drinking tea laced with the poison.
Suha Arafat has said she backs exhuming her late husband's remains from his mausoleum in the West Bank town of Ramallah.
A Swiss radiology lab at the Lausanne University Hospital Centre said on Friday it has received Suha Arafat's go-ahead to test his remains for poisoning by polonium.
French news website Slate.fr on Tuesday published a copy of the medical report into Arafat's death and said his symptoms were not consistent with polonium poisoning.
Arafat was sent to the Percy military hospital in Clamart outside Paris after suffering from nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, acute diarrhea and an abnormally low amount of platelets in the blood.
Doctors at the hospital conducted a wide range of tests but were unable to determine the exact cause of his illness.
A few days after his arrival in France, Arafat lapsed into a coma and he died on November 11, 2004. No autopsy was conducted.
"The hypothesis of polonium does not stand up to scrutiny," Marcel Francis-Kahn, the former chief of rheumatology at Paris's Bichat hospital, told Slate.fr.
"All experts know that poisoning by radioactive material does not lead to the symptoms seen in Arafat," he said, noting that he also suffered no traditional effects of radiation poisoning such as hair loss and a massive drop in white blood cells.
At the time of Arafat's death, Palestinian officials alleged he had been poisoned by long-time foe Israel, but an inconclusive Palestinian investigation in 2005 ruled out poisoning, as well as cancer and AIDS.
Israel has consistently denied the allegations, accusing Suha Arafat and Palestinian officials of covering up the real reasons for the death of the former leader, who led the struggle for Palestinian statehood for nearly four decades.
Following the news of a French enquiry, Israel said it "does not feel this investigation is of any concern to it despite all the hare-brained allegations made against us," foreign ministry spokesman Yigal Palmor said.
"I hope this enquiry throws light on every aspect of this affair," he added.

Emraan gets to kiss both Bipasha and Esha in "Razz 3"

emraan hashmi
..in Raaz 3. His uncle and mentor Mahesh Bhatt writes about the making of Brand Emraan
This boy can never be an actor. Look at those eyes. He looks terrified in front of the camera," says the original star of our huge and complex film family clan, aunt Poornima. Poornima, Emraan's grandmother, was a star back in the day. "I can understand why this heroine doesn't want to work with him," she concluded. She was referring to a test photo shoot picture of Emraan with a new female star, which we had taken on the star's insistence, as a kind of 'casting test.' Not surprisingly, just as aunty had prophesied, the heroine said a flat 'no'.
And with that, it was sunset at dawn for Emraan. Even before the first rays could shine on his career, it was plunged into darkness. Unlike my other nephew Mohit Suri, who always wanted to direct, Immy had always wanted to possess the best toys that the marketplace had to offer.
Luxury cars used to make him drool, and the idea of huge villas brought a dreamy look to his eyes. Acting, he felt, was the key which would unlock Alibaba's cave for him. So, he chucked up his job as an assistant director for which he got a measly 3000 a month, and gathered enough courage to tell me about his dream.
However his dreams had turned into a nightmare. He was declared dead on arrival. It was then that I stepped in. The sanskrit word 'guru' means one who brings light out of darkness. Like a true teacher, I claimed his darkness, and helped him to journey towards his own light.
Those were tough days for him. I took him with me everywhere. He was assaulted by my world-view 24x7, and attempted to whip up his inner spark. Like a gardener, I was trying to create the right soil for him to grow and flower. However it was not easy. At a film party that I had taken him to once, I boastfully introduced him to a film producer friend as my new hero. He literally shrank under the scrutinising gaze of my friend as he sized him up. Later, I blasted him for giving up on himself even before the race had begun.
But the darkest hour came on the sets of Footpath, Emraan's first film. It was the first day of the shoot and he was giving his first shot at night. Finally, when I heard the clapper boy announce 'take twenty six,' and a trembling Emraan made one more attempt to conceal his terror, I got the feeling that perhaps, just perhaps, I had backed the wrong horse. Eventually, it was the 44th take. Emraan was still far away from the goal post. That was when director Vikram Bhatt called for pack-up. As we walked to our cars, Vikram came to me, sensing my apprehension, "Don't worry, today is just a bad day. Leave it to me. We will make him a star," he said.
Footpath flopped, but believe it or not, Immy was mobbed outside Metro theatre. "Bhatt saab, Bhatt saab," he said on the phone, "I am being mobbed! These front-benchers, they like me!" he said with disbelief. I was moved. His voice still resonates within me. Who says the age of miracles is over ? At least now, he had qualified to run the race. This was his true beginning.
From his very first film, Brand Emraan has triggered intense emotions in the audience. He has always been seen as anti-establishment, loud, crass, obnoxious, irreverent, and on occasion, criminal. But there is no denying that he appealed to the maverick and the outlaw embedded in all of us. That is why our movies like Murder and Gangster worked for him.
But in spite of the success of these movies, media aristocrats and the industry were still dismissive and condescending towards him. While the industry could only see the tip of the iceberg, the real fan base lay beneath, in other words, all across the country. "Your nephew is a star in B-class centers like Ranchi, Bulandsher, Malegaon etc," said a media analyst to me. His study was confirmed when Jannat became a big hit, in spite of the IPL. With this, Immy entered his paradise phase.

Today, as he sits in his multi-crore dream apartment in the Beverly Hills of Mumbai, Pali Hill, with his fleet of BMWs and Audis parked below, and with Jannats, Shanghais, Once Upon a Time, and The Dirty Pictures under his belt, Emraan has the look of a man who has arrived. The high priests of high art who had written his obituary in his formative years are eating out of his hand because Brand Emraan has become a big box-office draw. But his biggest blockbuster is yet to descend on him. Raaz 3 is ready and waiting. With that, his brand will peak.
But a great brand is a story that is never completely told. So as his teacher, I would nudge him to move on.... There is no horizon there. It's limited by your gaze. Right now, I feel like a parent, who has taught his child to cycle. As his child rides away, there is a feeling of pride tinged with sadness. He doesn't need me anymore...
Raaz 3, presented by Fox Star Studios and produced by Vishesh Films, releases in theatres on September 7.

I have never felt the need for cosmetic surgery: Priyanka

priyanka chopra

priyanka chopra
Priyanka Chopra, 30, is on the cusp of a new career as a singing star. The feisty actor, who has one of the year's most awaited films coming up, speaks about her early years, controversies and why she will never undergo cosmetic surgery.

Q. What are your memories of becoming Miss World?
Priyanka : I belong to a family of academicians. I was a science student who wanted to become an engineer. When I was crowned Miss World, my mother came onstage and hugged me. Then while still holding me in a hug, she whispered, 'Who is going to study now?'
Q. What part do your parents play in your decision-making process?
Priyanka : My father is conservative, but has always supported my decisions. He lets me take my own decisions. His only condition while allowing me to come to Mumbai was that my mother should accompany me. Even though my mother was 40 years old at the time, and she was a high-flying gynaecologist in Bareilly, she put aside her career and came to live with me at a paying guest accommodation to help me chase my dreams.
Q. Were there things that upset you about being a part of the industry?
Priyanka : I came without backing... so in the beginning, I got thrown out of three films even after I signed them because some other actors were recommended and had to be accommodated. That really upset me. I was told to my face that I was being thrown out because so-and-so person had to be taken. It taught me the value of hard work and I have earned my place here through that. I never say no even if I am told to do something at sub-zero temperatures. Initially, I used to be very outgoing and friendly, but that made people link me up with anybody and everybody. So now, I have become a reserved and private person. The third thing that upsets me is my failure. If my film does not do well, it really hurts me. But by God's grace, even if some of my films may not have done well, people have still liked my work in it.

Q. How important is it for you to be in the top position?
Priyanka : For me, being on top means the people I work with should perceive the same and they should work with me again and again. Long ago, Mr Bachchan had said in a Filmfare interview that instead of looking at the value of the film, he considered the value of his part even if he had just two lines or two scenes. He said people must say 'Kya line boli hai'. These words of his have always stayed with me. I have always wanted to be the sum of more than just my movies. I want to be a persona like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. I imbibe from people I work with and I want to be like them.
Q. Why are you so closed about your relationships?
Prianka : I am a very private person. No one ever knows anything about me as I don't think it is necessary. As much as I want people to know, I tell them.
Your relationships have made you many friends and enemies at the same time.
I am not a part of any camp and any friendship or relationship is entirely on my account. The bad hurts me and me alone, and the good comes because of my amazing personality.
Q. Do you see yourself married?
Priyanka : My ambition, when I was four years old, was to be married!
Q. What kind of man would he be?
Priyanka : The man I marry needs to be a chhavi of my dad. It doesn't matter which profession or place he belongs to, but he should be someone whom I respect tremendously; he should be an achiever with family values and he should have a sense of humour, be intelligent and should be the life of the party.
Q. How do you cope with your dad's illness?
Priyanka : It's tough, but I don't like to talk about it as my dad would not like me to do so. It's on my mind 24x7. I am my daddy's little girl. He is my superhero. You do the best you can and then leave the rest to God.
Q. Have you ever had cosmetic surgery?
Priyanka : So far, I have never felt the need for any enhancement surgery. What I have is what I have been blessed with. People had a lot of issues about the fact that I was dusky and not a conventional-looking heroine. But I still got the opportunities I did. Grooming is a very important part of any girl's life. In the early days, I did not even know how to apply make-up. Over the years, with the help of various teams, I have worked on a vision of me and there are things that I could change in the process. This is true of most heroines. You learn to take care of yourself. I am not against plastic surgery. If it helps build self-esteem, I don't think there is anything wrong with it. But if it becomes an obsession, that can be a problem. For me, I got confidence from my films doing well. Through this profession, I came to understand myself better. So, it hurts when people judge or crucify me on imaginary counts. I have looked different at different ages because I have worked on my look. I love myself the way I am.

'No Asians' job advertisement triggers outrage in Australia

Australia's supermarket chain Coles has come under fire for publishing a job advertisement, which barred Indians or Asians from applying.

MELBOURNE: A contractor of Australia's supermarket chain Coles has come under fire for publishing a job advertisement, which barred Indians or Asians from applying.

"Store requires no Indians or Asians please. Must speak English (sic)", read the online ad posted on Sunday.

The ad on the Gumtree website sought cleaners for a supermarket at Eastlands Shopping Centre in Hobart, according to local media reports.

It triggered outrage on social media sites, with people calling for a boycott of the store.

Local newspaper 'The Mercury' reported that the ad was later removed from the site.

A Coles spokesman on Monday admitted the ad had been posted by a contract company responsible for cleaning its Rosny store.

"The ad was placed without Coles' knowledge and we were extremely concerned to learn of the ad and its contents," spokesman Jim Cooper said.

Tasmania's anti-discrimination commissioner Robin Banks was qouted as saying that she wanted to track down the cleaning contractor to pursue possible legal action.

"It's unlawful to blanket preclude a person because of their race," she said.

Banks said she often received complaints about job ads that discriminated against particular races.

She said both the company offering the position and the publisher of the advert could be subject to legal action.

"Gumtree is probably in breach (of the law) as well because the Act says you can't publish, display, etcetera, material that is discriminatory," Banks said, adding "I've had other ads in print form and other sites brought to my attention, which I've followed up with the publisher. That tends to result in it getting pulled very quickly."
