The Highlights from Paris Fashion Week 2012

Paris Spring R.T.W. 2013

The makeup at Dior elevated Raf Simons's already fabulous first collection for the esteemed house. Rows of rhinestones in a kaleidoscope of colors appeared to shoot from the eyes. A Dior rainbow!

Balenciaga.

We loved the shoes from Balenciaga. They elevated an already insane heel to new heights. (Originally, they were all set in a row; I was the one who moved them into this cool situation.)

Chanel.
Black skirt suit and pearls, sounds a little boring doesn't it? But not when it's Chanel and the skirt is leather and the pearls are on the jacket. The opening look was cool and sexy, and the 80 looks that followed were delightful as well.
Alexander McQueen.

This neck brace from Alexander McQueen is a catacomb of bees and jewels, all dipped in gold. Bees were the inspiration for designer Sarah Burton this season. I like to think it was an homage to all the hard work I have done this fall. Needless to say this piece was the bee's knees (sorry, I couldn't help myself).

Chloe.
ChloƩ turned 60 this year and shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon. It was a brilliant collection that produced the Amelia. Just a touch of fur I think is chic, no?

Louis Vuitton.

Chastity—the virtue, not the Bono—is usually a foreign concept in the world of fashion. This dainty Louis Vuitton rose gold locket bracelet will help make sure you don't lose yours (or this bracelet)—that is, until someone unlocks it.

Givenchy.

Riccardo Tisci served chic Catholicism this season with celestial organza ruffles. Through this collection for Givenchy, we've seen a transition from his past gnarly to current godly.  The gold clerical collar is something I certainly wouldn't mind going to confession in.

Lanvin.
I think it's quite modern to show a bathing suit with a drop-waist trouser—it's a new take on day-to-night. You know, afternoon to evening with a quick dip in the pool, if you will. This Lanvin look makes me want to spend every day in that order.

Roger Vivier.

Need an evening shoe that's adult, chic, and sexy? Roger Vivier never disappoints. Bruno Frisoni is a master at his craft as well as a truly charming fella. The black suede shoes with gold accents were a standout in an already pretty perfect collection.

Delfina Delettrez.

Some may not know it, but as a child I actually raised bees, so when I saw this bee cuff from Delfina Delettrez I was won over immediately. Her collection was as muscular and cool as we have come to expect, but I have never seen a cuff quite so primal and fun while being sexy at the same time. The season of bees!

Valentino.
My boss got married in Valentino Couture, but I will settle for this beautiful embroidered gown from the spring R.T.W. collection. It was one of my favorite collections of the season. O.K., so maybe I won't walk down the aisle in this, but I did hear several editors cooing that it was the dress they wanted to get married in.

Lanvin.

Just look at Kristen McMenamy and her daughter Lily! When bombshell supermodels were ruling the runway in the mid-1980s, a new unconventional beauty arrived and rocked the glamazon set. It was Kristen McMenamy. She was a Helmut Lang girl, and she paved the way for the "cool kid" models that were to follow. She remains a crowd favorite to this day, and when she came out in Lanvin wearing a catsuit and gladiator jewelry, her signature gray flowing free, you could hear gasps coming from the audience. Especially from my section. (Especially from me.) Speaking of paving the way, her daughter walked in the highly anticipated Saint Laurent show, where unconventional beauties made up the core of the show. It's cool to be different!

Kirstin Kragh.
.Kirstin Kragh Liljegren was the "It" girl of Paris, so "It" that she only walked in one show—she opened Balenciaga and was put on exclusive. Keep an eye out for Kirstin; we expect to see a lot more of her soon.
