27th of Ramadan also known as Laylat ul Qadr ( the night of destiny/power) is one the most important night of the year for Muslims. Allah describes this night as better than thousand months in Surah Al Qadr,
"We revealed it in the Night of Destiny. How awesome is the Night of Destiny! The Night of Destiny is better than a thousand months. The angels and the Spirit descend therein, by their Lord's leave, to carry out every command. Peaceful it is until the advent of the dawn. (97:1-5)"
Laylat ul Qadr is the night when the Quran was first revealed. This night is also believed to be the night when Allah decides the destiny of everyone. On Laylatul Qadr, if someone humbly asks Allah for something, it will be granted. If someone begs for something, it will be granted. And if someone seeks forgiveness, they will be forgiven. It is stated in hadith that Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, related that the Prophet (S) said:
“When the last one-third of the night remains, our Lord, the Glorious One descends towards the heaven of the earth and proclaims: Who is that who supplicates for Me, and I grant his supplication? Who is that who begs Me for anything and I grant it to him? And who is that who seeks My forgiveness, and I forgive him?” (Bukhari, Muslim).
Most Muslims take advantage of this night, from sunset till sunrise by offering nawafil prayers, reciting the Quran, asking Allah to forgive them (Istaghfar), and making duas.
In an another hadith the Prophet (S) said:
"Whoever prays during the night of Qadr with faith and hoping for its reward will have all of his previous sins forgiven." (Bukhari and Muslim).
Don't miss out on this important night this Ramadan. Pray as much you can, make duas, and ask Allah to pardon you.
