McLaren and Bentley revealed sensational convertibles at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California, where mega-rich car fans gather every year.
And if a new Toyota Auris hatchback seems a little tame in comparison, it's the affordable model that ordinary motorists will be buying.
The McLaren, Bentley and Toyota will all be built in the UK and will help safeguard thousands of jobs.
The stunning McLaren 12C Spider is available to order now and anyone with a spare £195,500 cash – perfect for the latest Lottery millionaires – can be behind the wheel early in 2013 when the first deliveries are made.
Based on the same platform as the 12C Coupe, the Spider convert-ible has that extra dose of sparkle, but just as much supercar performance.
It hits 0-62mph in 3.1 seconds, 0-100mph takes just six seconds and the top speed is 204mph if your hair can stand it.
The Bentley Mulsanne Convertible is described as a concept, but this is Bentley's new flagship that will be on sale late 2013, early 2014.
The real car, a strikingly glamorous four-seat convertible, was shown to a handful of billionaire and millionaire customers at the weekend to gauge reactions.
Not surprisingly they loved it, so expect to see the Bentley in showrooms within 18 months, with an exclusive price tag expected to be in excess of £255,000.
The Mulsanne Convertible will be the replacement for the Bentley Azure soft top that sold 2,100 units between 1995 and 2010.
The Toyota Auris's price tag is a far more attractive one, starting at around £13,000, and should sell to thousands rather than a few hundred wealthy buyers.
The Auris fits into the sensible category, but Toyota have managed to spice things up with a sportier look – the car sits 55mm lower and it is 30mm longer, so there is more space.
Production at Toyota's Burnaston plant starts late this year and the new car will go on sale in early 2013, with a hybrid and estate versions joining the line-up.
