Vivek Oberoi and Neha Sharma teams up for a movie

Vivek Oberoi and Neha Sharma.

'Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story' is not any ordinary love story. It is the love story of a gangster, but of course, with a fun twist. The film has Vivek Oberoi and Neha Sharma in the lead. And both aver that the making of the flick was a lot of fun.

"I've enjoyed myself thoroughly," says Neha, and Vivek echoes the same, "From the moment I heard the script, I was hooked. For me, it was an interesting mix — a blend of the 'bhai' roles that I have done, in Company, for instance, and theloverboy in Saathiya, the vulnerable guy — a sort of lover bhai, actually. That was the challenge. I've done the tough guy before, but I have never done the guy who is so tough that he can bash up 20 people, but in front of this girl he has a thing for, he just can't do anything."

Basically, the movie is about this chhapri, or tapori, tough guy, but somewhere deep inside, he is a good guy — he has a heart of gold. And then he meets this educated, sophisticated girl, from a corporate background. That's when the madness begins, and sparks fly.

"Yes, it's a crazy thing, and realistic. Neha was fabulous, she's really committed and the chemistry between us is quite sizzling," adds Vivek. "The chemistry is for everybody to see. It really rocks. I've had people who have seen the promos call me and say that Vivek and I look really good together, and that it works like magic," says Neha, adding, "I hope the audience likes us as a pair too."
Neha's character in the film is that of Simran, and Vivek plays Jayanta. "I play this modern, endearing girl, who comes from a small town to Mumbai with big dreams and hope. She wants to prove to the world that she can be something, but there is something that happens. She loses her job, and has to move into the bhai's neighbourhood. I've forgotten what Vivek sounds like in real life — he is really into his gangster character all the time, and he even dresses like him," laughs Neha. Says Vivek, "I am this gangster who's tough on the outside, soft as a flower inside. I meet this girl, and we both detest each other at first. But then, I fall in love with her," and adds in a deep tone for good effect, "Apun Jayanta bhai, aur yeh apun ki bhadotri"— "This is a line from the film," he laughs, as people look at him, with a puzzled expression.

About the film, producer Kumar Taurani says, "Jayantabhai Ki Luv Story is a simple story of an interesting Jayanta bhai and his goofy, endearing ways of life and love. The film is an out-and-out entertainer that audiences can watch and unwind to."
